My customer avatar lives in Gainesville Florida. He is 19 years old and is a Sophomore at the University of Florida. He is originally from  Miami, where he lives with his parents and sister. He does not own a car, so his parents drove him to the University to drop him off. To go home he usually takes a bus or hitches a ride. At the University, he lives in a 2 bedroom apartment with a friend about mile away from the university campus. He is currently take 5 classes, so his schedule is pretty busy. He has classes every weekday, and on the weekends he goes out and hangs out with friends. He mostly uses his bike to get around the university, but sometimes uses the bus. Other than going to classes, he participates in many school events.  As well, he is in fencing club and goes to the school gym almost everyday.

Elevator Pitch No. 2

Image
My feedback from my last elevator pitch was mostly positive. Everyone said that I had concise word choice and I explained things clearly. The negative feedback was that I did not have a hook to catch my audience's attention, and that I moved my hands too much. I can agree to this. I know my tendency to be less outspoken and to get over-excited with my hands. For this speech, I added a hook and moved my hands less

What’s Your Secret Sauce?

Five ways in which I think I have Human Capital: Intelligence-  I am able to think about problems and solve them with simple solutions. I'm also able to understand subject easily. Unbiased - I am able to put myself out of situations and make proper decisions without bias. Like when making hard decisions I try to make the best decision based on the consequences. Persuasive - I am able to show people the benefits or consequences of things and convince them to do something Memory - I have a really good memory and I can easily remember things if I payed attention to them the first time. Insensitive - I don't get offended easily which makes me very easy to talk to and work with. I can accept criticism without emotion. Interviews: Reflection: I think how everyone views me and how I view myself is very similar.  However, they only had nice things to say. Everyone believes that I'm really smart, but I do know I'm not the smartest person in the world. ...

Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 2

These interviews helped me figure out when customers would choose my service over some alternative and when they would choose the alternatives. I plan to offer my service to customers through an app. My interview with Will was very helpful; according to him, price would be the biggest reason why he would choose my ride sharing system over others. Since the prices of my service would be much cheaper than others he would most likely utilize my service. He also said that time would be a factor. According to him, using the bus would be free, but if I need to go somewhere quickly I would not wait on a bus. My second interviewee had similar factors in making his decision. Price and time would be big factors on why he would use my service, however he says he would choose another ride sharing system based on what he's carrying. He says if he were to come from the grocery store with groceries in his hand, he would not feel comfortable on a scooter, so he would rather ride in a car or...

Halfway Reflection

1) Tenaciousness is a competency. What are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this course? As this class has a rigorous work load, I have developed a schedule to split the 2 assignments, due every Friday, throughout the week. Every Monday I look at the assignments that will be due at the end of the week and plan my week so I have time to do a portion of the assignment every day. 2) Tenaciousness is also about attitude. Talk about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this? A moment I felt like giving up was for the first assignment where we had to interview people. It was really hot outside and everyone I tried to talk to said they were too busy. What pulled me through was the satisfaction of completing the assignment. These past two months I definitely...

Grinding It Out: The Making of McDonald’s, Ray Kroc 1) You read about an entrepreneur: What surprised you the most? What surprised me the most was finding out that he ventured into business with the McDonald brothers to create the empire that it is today at such a late age. He was 52 when he met the brothers for the first time. What about the entrepreneur did you most admire? I admired his “grind it out” mentality. The fact that through a lot of adversity he remained hard working.  What about the entrepreneur did you least admire? Ray Kroc showed a somewhat risk it all mentality. In the book he says “...you have to take risks, and in some cases you must go broke. If you believe in something, you've got to be in it to the ends of your toes. Taking reasonable risks is part of the challenge. It's the fun." I think this is pretty stupid. Sure you have to take risks, but going all in and losing everything is a terrible idea. Did the entrepreneur encounter advers...

Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1

The segment of people I decided to interview were people who travel long distances around campus. The first person I interviewed was a freshman who lives in Beaty Towers and is taking 5 classes. The second person I interviewed was a third year student who lived in looking glass apartment, across from the campus on University Drive. The third person I interviewed was a transfer student who lived in Murphree Hall.. From all three interviews, I gathered that people travel around campus throughout the day, based on their classes and other activities they participate in. When I asked them where is the farthest location around campus that they go to, two of my interviewees answered that Southwest Rec. Another answered from his apartment across University Drive to the New Physics Building. When I asked them how often they travel this, the two students who go to Southwest Rec. said that they go to that gym between 2-4 times a week, and the other student goes the the physics building 3 tim...

Idea Napkin No. 1

1) You. My name is Czar Parreno, I am a third year student here at UF. My major is computer science with a my minor in entrepreneurship. I’m good with computers in general and throughout my years in college I’ve learned to code. My aspirations is to design the mobile application for my business concept. If I were to start this business I think it would play a big role in my life as I would have to dedicate time for research and building the application. 2) What are you offering to customers? The service I am offering is a transportation service much like Uber, in which customers book rides using a mobile application. Scooters are used to transport customers. My transportation service, which I named Scoot™, is only available within close proximity to college campuses. This is because it is dangerous to ride scooters in main roads. The benefit of only having the service to be around college campuses is that if a customer were to book a ride, there would be an abundance of drivers wit...
