Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 2

These interviews helped me figure out when customers would choose my service over some alternative and when they would choose the alternatives. I plan to offer my service to customers through an app.

My interview with Will was very helpful; according to him, price would be the biggest reason why he would choose my ride sharing system over others. Since the prices of my service would be much cheaper than others he would most likely utilize my service. He also said that time would be a factor. According to him, using the bus would be free, but if I need to go somewhere quickly I would not wait on a bus.

My second interviewee had similar factors in making his decision. Price and time would be big factors on why he would use my service, however he says he would choose another ride sharing system based on what he's carrying. He says if he were to come from the grocery store with groceries in his hand, he would not feel comfortable on a scooter, so he would rather ride in a car or bus.
My third interview said the biggest factor would be whether he felt comfortable. He says that scooters are uncomfortable to ride as there is nowhere to rest your back, and there is not much seat space. However, he gave me a great suggestion for my business. He says that I should also use the drivers not only to pick up people but to also pick up food for deliveries.

Overall, these interviews helped in further developing my idea. This segment agreed that my price point is what makes my service the most attractive, however comfort is what makes it the least. To solve this I plan on possibly providing scooter drivers with seat extensions or back rests to make the rides more comfortable for the passengers. They agree that there are competitors that have things my service cannot provide.

  1. Hey Czar! I noticed in my interviews the main factor people look for is price. Especially being in a college town, budgets are small and is hard to part with it when its either a ride or groceries. I think giving these interviews helped to look at any problems that may arise, like the scooter seats, and fix them quickly to ensure customer satisfaction, as you only have one chance to make a first impression. Something to now consider as well is how you will advertise, as there is already a lot of ride share apps around now, how will you be able to compete with SNAPP and Uber?

  2. I think that the price is going to make people more attracted to you product for sure. This fast Uber that can go in small streets would be awesome, but if someone gets hurt in the company, then the liability would be very complicated. Sometimes as Company owners, the liability for a small accident may end up taking your home mortgage. Just think about it.

  3. This was a great way to identify who would make the decision to use the service. While your ride sharing service utilizes scooters that are on campus this would give you an advantage to those looking at time as a decision maker. Price would also be a way you could target this market since scooters are not as expensive to operate verses cars. One thing I would have liked to have known was how they would evaluate the service after using it. While they chose the service due to price or time, why would the continue using it? Or what would stop them from not choosing it in the future?
