Elevator Pitch No. 1

Testing the Hypothesis, Part 2

Who: As I stated in my previous post, my target customer were people within or around college campuses that needed quick transportation. After interviewing more people within the University of Florida, I discovered that there is a group of people who share common characteristics with my target audience yet fall outside my opportunity. These people are those who own scooters, bikes, electric skateboards, or any other quick mode of transportation. Those who own scooters would fit in the employee category rather than the customer category since my service was to provide transportation using scooters. My transportation service specifically targets those that need quick transportation to fairly close destinations - within or nearby college campuses where scooters can travel. Therefore, people who own bikes, electric skateboards, and other quick mode of transportation would be less inclined to use the service. Out of t...

Solving The Problem, Part 2

My service would be used to solve the problem students have when they need to get around campus fast without hurting their My service is a transportation service much like Uber and Lyft, except it utilizes scooters rather than cars. The service would have drivers, mostly other students that own scooters, that pick up one student at a time and drives them to their destination. The service would only be available within the vicinity of college campuses. Since the farthest a driver would have to travel is a couple miles, there would always be drivers close to customers and would not take long to pick them up. Uber and Lyft have larger boundaries, so a driver that was 5 miles away could take long to pick up a customer. As well, since gas is cheaper for scooters and they would not be travelling far, the rides fares would be much cheaper than that of Uber and Lyft. Another advantage the scooters have over cars is that scooters are able to take roads that are blocked off from cars. The adv...

Testing the Hypothesis, Part 1

College Transportation System ·     Opportunity: o     Current transportation systems not fast enough especially for college students who only need to travel within college grounds and need to get these within a few minutes. §   The who: College students who need to travel within the University §   The what: There is no quick and cheap transportation §   The why: Buses are too slow and indirect, and current transportation systems such as Uber and Lyft are too costly and not fast enough for students who need to travel within college campuses quickly. ·      Testing the who: Not just college students have this need, as people all over the world need to travel to places quickly for a cheap price. However, I am limiting my opportunity to densely populated areas where people require transportation within close proximity such as college campuses; students everyday need to travel from classes to classes or if they live ...

Identifying Opportunities in Economic & Regulatory Trends

Here's what millennials know about investing – and what they should know Source: www.cnbc.com/2018/09/13/millennials-are-investing-but-some-may-be-overly-guided-by-emotions.html I believe an opportunity exists here as the author cites surveys and studies and provides many statistics. The prototypical consumer would be millenials that have no current investments, yet are scared to invest. I believe this opportunity is simple to exploit, but would take time. Before investing, millennials need to invest time researching and learning how to safely invest so they do not lose money. I saw this opportunity because I myself have invested some money into cryptocurrencies. Identifying Local Opportunities

Article 1: “Get past platitudes on water supply” by The Daytona Beach News-Journal  https://infoweb-newsbank-com.lp.hscl.ufl.edu/apps/news/openurl?ctx_ver=z39.88-2004&rft_id=info%3Asid/infoweb.newsbank.com&svc_dat=WORLDNEWS&req_dat=0D0CB57BE7FF6D8A&rft_val_format=info%3Aofi/fmt%3Akev%3Amtx%3Actx&rft_dat=document_id%3Anews%252F16E68964734DA6D8 Summary: The article begins by talking about the current election year and how candidates are promising to “secure Florida’s water supply,” yet no actual details have been said about how the candidates plan to do this. The article then continues by outlining the current issues that affect state’s water supply such as red tide, sea level rise, pollution, and over consumption. There is a miscorrelation between the threat to our water supply and the current solutions being practiced. The article ends by stating that Florida votes cannot afford to let the issue be ignored by the candidates, as the future of the State ...

Forming An Opportunity Belief

I find that during very hot days, when I’m walking in between classes, I crave a drink to quench my thirst. The majority of water fountains within the University of Florida are placed inside buildings, which is out of the way when I’m walking outside. There should be water fountains placed throughout the outdoor portion of the campus. This unmet need affects everyone that walks around the university campus. The need has existed for a while, from my first day on campus in 2017 until now, I have never seen a water fountain outside a building. Currently, the most common way people deal with this problem is by bringing water bottles or buying drinks from vending machines. I do not see this as a solution, rather a compromise; people still need to go into buildings to use vending machines or to refill their bottles. Currently I am 90% sure that this opportunity exists. Interviews: Student 1: Tristian How often do you walk around the outdoor portion of campus? “Almost Eve...

Entrepreneurship Story

Image
A time in my life I was exposed to Entrepreneurship was when I was in the 7th Grade. My older sister, already in high school, was selling candy bars in school. She would buy the the variety pack candy bars from Costco and sell each piece of candy for one dollar. I remembered her showing me the profits she accumulated and I was impressed. At one point she got so good at it people recognized her ability. Even the principle noticed, and recruited her to help in school fundraising events by selling Krispy Kreme donuts. Ever since then the idea of Entrepreneurship has excited me. Not because I wanna own a business or because I want to be recognized, but because I want to money… a lot of money. All I really in want in life is to be rich; billionaire rich. As I matured I realized that the majority of billionaires are entrepreneurs. My Sister and I

Bug List

Currently, these are some of my top pet peeves. 1. Uneven sidewalks throughout the university that make me trip when I’m riding my skateboard Why: Normal weathering causes the sidewalks to get damaged over time, but no one seems to want to fix them. 2. Lack of Parking spots by my Apartment Why: I live in College Park so either people are illegally parking in the spaces, or the Leasing company did not build enough parking spots . 3. It has been raining a lot in Gainesville Why: The rain could just be due to rain season, but it has been raining a lot as of the recent years. It is most likely because of climate change. 4. There are smudges on my glasses Why: Lenscrafters make poor quality lenses. I have gotten three pairs of glasses from them and all of them have had the same problem. 5. Closet Sliding Door comes off the rails Why: The apartment seems to have been built recently, so I do not believe that it is due to normal usage. I believe it is because of poor construction quality...
